BSides is a framework for organising and holding security conferences. The concept began in the US in 2009 with Mike Dahn, Jack Daniel, and some others because the CFP for Blackhat Vegas or DEF CON was oversubscribed and those unable to present decided to hold their own conference on the 'b side'.
Now, many have been arranged in several countries throughout the world. BSides has come to be known as a 'conference by the community for the community'. Events are generally free to attend and rely on sponsorship to pay for the venue and other costs and are run as not-for-profit.
The 4th edition BSIDES Algiers returns this year, organized by Shellmates Club on 17 and 18 April 2015 at ESI, Oued Smar Algiers.
For a period of two days, the event includes a series of conferences, practical workshops and open spaces to debate and exchange as well as a CTF competition.
The event aims to bring together various actors in the infosec business as well as anyone interested in this field, to learn and exchange, but also to create a community of sharing and cooperation in Algeria.
Shellmates club, is a group of highly motivated students that are interrested in information security in general. Its diversity of members who are from different Wilayas & different universities is what makes it a special one.
The club was prevously known under the name of OWASP Algeria Student Chapter (Open web Application Security Project)
